Nintendo Download of the Week: 1/31 Edition

When I think of the downloadable offerings this time around, only one word comes to mind, boring. With the pending release of the 3DS being just around the corner, it seems like these developers are not even trying anymore. Apparently, services you can call 1-900 numbers for (and no it’s nothing dirty) can qualify themselves as games. There is still a gem in here somewhere, guess we will just have to dig real deep in order to find it. Here it is, my pic for Nintendo Download of the Week for January 31st, 2011. (more…)

Review: Astroslugs

I have a confession to make, creative thinking is not exactly my strong suit. This is ironic because one of my favorite genres in the video game world is the puzzle genre. Stepping outside of a comfort zone, and actually using ones brain has become a thing of the past nowadays. In a world filled with mindless shooters and beat’ em ups, it’s nice a change of pace when something like Astroslugs comes along. While it may not be that complicated to play, the level of challenge on offer here will have you second guessing yourself every step of the way. (more…)

Two Worlds II Review

If it is a surprise to you that Two Worlds, one of the lowest points in current-gen RPGs, had a sequel planned that was actually released; welcome to the club. This fabled sequel has been told and it should be more of a surprise that it is a good game. Those with the highest of game-standards will find plenty of reasons to trash TW II but gamers with a sense of appreciation will find much to love. If you consider yourself a core-gamer and yearn for 40-50 hour RPG experiences, Reality Pump has just served your order. This is as “hardcore” as an action-RPG can get. (more…)

Nintendo Download of the Week: 1/24 Edition

This is the first time in quite awhile where picking a favorite download is not so easy. Two titles in particular look equally interesting, but in the end I had to go with the one that has the possibility of being worth it in the long run. Being a sports related game made my decision a little bit easier, but not by much. Either way here it is, my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week for January 24th,2011. (more…)

3DS gets a release date

Those looking to experience the latest in 3D handheld technology will not have to wait much longer. The Nintendo 3DS is set to hit store shelves in North America on March 27, and in Europe on March 25th of this year. It will be priced at $249.99, and will include a plethora of features that would take a long time to go over in just one article. Let’s take a look at some of the features included that I think really stood out from the others instead. (more…)

Nintendo Download of the Week: 1/17 Edition

If names of games alone could win my favorite pick every time, one of these would take the cake without question. Let’s be clear about something though, an interesting concept means more than anything else when picking out a favorite. That being said, one game in particular did grab my attention, but it may not be the one you expect. Here it is, my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week for January 17th, 2011. (more…)

Video Game Rules in Real Life

In life there are many things we take for granted, the same goes for video games. Strange rules that would never apply to the real world somehow seem to make sense in a virtual one. The people over at Rooster Teeth, developers of the ever popular Halo internet show Red vs. Blue, have decided to conduct a series of tests to find out how well, or how poorly everyday people would respond to ideas such as these. Of course, the final results end up being more humourous than scientific, but that’s besides the point. (more…)

Nintendo Download of the Week: 1/10 Edition

There isn’t really too much to get excited about with this latest installment of Nintendo downloads. An interesting looking demo, and more additions to the VC might just save it from being a complete disaster. No matter how bad things get, I’m sure there is something in this mess of shovelware that might be worth checking out. Either way here it is, my pic for Nintendo Download of the Week for January 10th, 2011. (more…)
