See I've never been someone to panic when it comes to Live being down and love those times to really just play those backlog titles. In fact at times I even have my own Live Is Down times and play hidden for instances where I want to just focus on a Campaign and not be bothered by anyone and everyone out there. Hope you get your Live Issues fixed soon now.

You also forgot to mention that the Playstation Move is going to bring a 1:1, in otherwords a realistic, motion sensing experience. Instead of feeling gimmicky, like the Wii, or exchanging gestures for buttons, which is loosely how Kinect works. I will tell you the issues, I have, with the Nintendo and Microsoft brand vs Sony and prove why there is one clear cut winner before this competiton even starts.

When the Wii bust onto the stage I remember the concept of motion sensing games blew me away and I was left in shock and awe over this new system. However as the system has aged and the more I used the system the flaws with Wii sensing really got to me. First, the Wii takes advantage of IR, infrared, sensors. This is great because it keeps cost low but there is a reason IR emitters and recievers are cheap it is because they are easy to obstruct. The problem: When on the cusp of victory your _________(friend, family, pet, ...??) gets in the way of the sensor bar and next thing you know the race is over and you just finished last. >( Second, The motion sensing accuracy never had a realistic feel. Not much to say here because Wii MotionPlus did improve on alot of these issues, but not all of them. So I do commend Nintendo for keeping their system fresh. A few hardcore gamers have an issue with the Wii software/games but this doesn't "kill" the system.

Kinect ..... Well, since the author of this article, MrB4, has already given Bill Gates a happy ending for this new peripheral I don't need to say anymore positives. $150 is not reasonable for THIS. Playstation Eye, which can motion sense like the Kinect does, costs $50. If that costs $50 then I would expect the Kinect to not cost more than $100 tops. Unless Mircosoft is, like they always do, charging a premium. I am sure everybody who has wanted to upgrade their 360's hard-drive, get a 360 flash drive, etc has noticed that the XBOX label is expensive. (If you want some solid examples let me know and I will post links to SOLID examples.) Earlier I made the mention that Kinect uses gestures in lieu of button pressing. In it's most basic form this is exactaly what the Kinect does, this also happens to be the way that the Sega motion sensing controller worked. (I have a question: Which 3rd party is investing alot in to developing Kinect software? Sega, maybe because it has had this experience before.) Also, as mentioned above, you cannot wear some clothing. This probably won't affect most the men but women, for example, cannot wear dresses while trying to play a game.

Last and not least the Playstation Move, the NEXT BIG THING. This is going to bring something new to the table, 1:1 motion sensing accuracy. It will be easy to immerse yourself in the game when it is actually you who is doing all the motions. The Move is so sophisticated it will track your motions on 3 different planes, or in layman's terms, it will track you in 3D. (For more explanation on what I mean by, "it will track you in 3D." just ask and I will explain more throughly.) Then add to that a 3D enviroment and that gives us an almost Vitural Reality. Yes, I said it. Move + 3D gaming is going to be a near VR experience. I could expain more about Move or the 3D but I think this is enough. Some
people are very critical of the system without reason. I will admit the PS3 has some issues and downfalls but as a whole it is a wonderful system. (Don't believe me then play Uncharted 2 or look at the great exclusives coming out this fall like LBP 2, if you haven't played the first one then I am sorry. I feel that even the most diehard MS fanboy would be hard pressed to talk too much trash on this beautiful game.)

VR is where we eventually be heading, as the technology develops further. Sony, however, can give us a taste of this future in September. If this ins't proof enough for you that Sony will be delivering a Knockout punch to the competing companies then I am sorry to have wasted your time.

PS: I loved the XBOX when it came out. I could update my harddrive and mod the system, easily. I still have a soft spot for the original HALO and the best FPS game still to date HALO 2, which was the only worthy successor in the franchise. When MS dropped the axe down and elimited BC support I moved on with my life and decided to buy a console that didn't have a 50% chance of bricking during gameplay. ..... I am glad I never invested in the 360 and this is why, RROD.

One thing I don't get is how people are so quick to say Sony blatantly copied, when they really didn't, especially since they had the whole idea and system in production first, and their move is much more different, and people don't say Kinect is a blatant copy of Eyetoy? Also, I feel they (MS) are taking a wrong step, especially with the removal of the Kinect CPU, where the company who developed Kinect actually had MS as a last resort, and Sony has went down the path, and seen it was to limited, and to restricted, in games for the most part. Kinect also being such much more expensive in the end, after everything, including buying games, and the noticeable lag doesn't impress. Most games they have shown already seem possible on the PlayStation Eye camera alone, like dance central, and ricochet, and Mylo and Kate. It's all my opinion, but all Microsoft has on top is Advertising, like basic brainwashing, also having 2 active players only limit for Kinect is not so big for it, as also being needed to be dressed in a certain way, and you need a significant distant for playability. I feel Move is better as a motion system in all, where you can use the move to play games sitting down, like Socom, basically like having Dualshock, and you have the accuracy, the technology behind it, everything that differentiates the Move with the Wii, that people don't acknowledge, the Hardcore games, the many opportunities, and little restrictions or limitations, and also the ability to patch games that released prior to Move will double, or even triple the library of the amount of games compatible with motion, and Kinect cannot do that. In the end i just feel Sony and the Move have taken a much more better approach to motion gaming.

Great article, really shows that taking responsibility for what children do is in the hands of a parent, and not of a video game.

Too many times I hear this same thing over and over again. Here's a shocker, when you give birth to a child, you are supposed to take care of them and teach them what to do, and what not to do. Shocking, isn't it?

Hey Pimp,

OK, so I gave it a B, which is an average score. On a 10 scale, that B would be a 6 out of 10.

0 dunce cap = REJECTED! F rating
1 dunce cap = Below average. C-/C/C+ rating
2 dunce cap = Average. B-/B/B+ rating
3 dunce cap = Above average. A-/A/A+ rating

Thanks for reading. I liked the game alot at first, it just goes on for to long and that made its flaws harder to overlook is all. You should try it, at bargain bin prices, since you didn't like Mass Effect

I'm looking forward to what might be possible. Like the demo of Milo from E3 2009, I think they might be able to create that interaction in games like Mass Effect. They could still prompt us on the screen with something like "Tell me about the Geth" only we have the option to speak and say, "Look I want to know what ever you can tell me about the Geth," and the AI will pick up on that sentence, understand it, and respond back. Stuff like that might be really cool for these RPG/FPS type of games.

I'm out for a couple weeks, but you might think about adding the Crackdown 2 demo. It has 4 player co-op I think and perhaps is available in the demo. Haven't had a chance to try anything with the long hours I'm putting in for the next 9 days.

I like the possibilities of some good third party games to be made for connect as well. Your Shape Fitness Evolved by Ubisoft and Dance Central by Harmonix show some promise. Maybe they will actually help me lose some weight, lol.

I’m for Kinect. Hopefully more developers will make hardcore games like Ubisoft, Capcom, 2K, Rockstar, ect. Imagine if Ubisoft does a sequel to Tom Clancy's End War using Kinect. Controlling a whole army like in Minority Report type of style plus with voice controls... BETTER voice controls. Of couse it will take some time.

With a Motion sensor I'd say has to use the camera to see something moving. The Gyrosensor means it will have stuff along the lines of the iPhone and soon to be released Windows Phone 7 that allows you to tilt the game around to move things. So a simple tilt to the right would make Mario run towards the right and then a bounce up could make him hop over an object.
