Rejected Gamer

First Impresssion: Madworld

Just picked this game up today, and I wanted to give you my first impressions of it.

For those of you who do not know much about this game, here it is in a nutshell. You are a man named Jack, who is a participant in a game show called Death Watch (kind of like a running man type of theme), your goal is to fight through waves of enemies throughout each level, play a mini-game, fight a boss, then on to the next level. You are hired by a man named XIII to participate in this tournament, and are also working undercover for the government trying to find out what is going on in the city you are in, Varrigan City.

The graphics in this game are unique, everything is in black and white, leaving places that are highlighted in red areas in which you can execute devastating finishing moves. Jack is well detailed, but lacks emotion, especially when he talks, the expression on his face never changes, but the chainsaw on his arm makes this a forgiveable flaw. Enemies are varied in size, shape, and by the types of weapons that they carry, so no problem there. Executions are as gory as they come, and blood spattering on the screen is always a nice feature for a game like this.

The best feature of this game so far is just the countless amounts of ways that you can execute your opponents. The more variety that you add to your attacks, the more points you will gain for that kill. Spike a guy in the head with a street sign, throw him in a trash can, then repeatedly slam into a rose bush of spikes on a wall never gets old. You can also electrocute enemies, impale them on spikes or hooks, throw them into fans, etc. I also enjoy the commentary from the announcers Greg Proops, and Bender from Futurama (Sorry, I can’t remember his name at the moment). They are over the top, vulgar, and just flat out hillarious to listen to.

So far, I am having a great time with this game, and when I am finished with it, expect a full review up shortly after that.
