Rejected Gamer

Ghost Recon Heading to Wii

During Ubisoft’s third quarter financial call this morning, chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the recently announced Ghost Recon: Future Soldier title will be released on the Nintendo Wii.

Ubisoft also confirmed that the game will be releasing on all platforms during the holiday season of 2010. Guillemot also stated during the publisher’s investor call that a different developmental team is making the Wii Version of the game, and it will be focused on appealing to the Wii audience.

Here is what Guillemot had to say about the Game:

It will be on all platforms, including the Wii, but it’s not going to be exactly the same product, he said. “It’s done by a different team, so it’s a different approach, and will be created for the Wii population.”

As nice as it is to see another popular franchise heading over to the Wii, I am also worried about what type of game it’s going to be. As fun of an on-rail shooter as Dead Space extraction was, I am getting kind of tired of them on the Wii. It tends to be the safe route that most developers take for shooter games on the system, and I hope Ubisoft doesn’t take it, and makes the game more like COD 4 Reflex Edition, which is an actual game instead of an arcade shooter. Either way, I will still be checking out Future Soldier when it hits stores this holiday season.
