If there is a need for more than one room, we will split up playtime accordingly, or if another site member is available, I will ask them to host a party lobby for the other game. Now all I need you to do is choose which game we should play by casting your vote below. Voting will close at 5 pm est on the day of gaming night. Hope to see you all on Thursday.
Man, anyone looking for some great downloadable titles to play on the Wiiware or DSiWare services should have been checking out the lineup for October, as it is has been simply outstanding. Sonic has returned to his 2D greatness, Wayforward has delivered yet another great title to the DSiWare service, and now one of the most popular downloadable franchises is back with one more game that I’m sure will be just as memorable as the others. Picking a favorite has never been easier, so let’s get to it. So here it is, my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week for October 25th, 2010. (more…)
Now when I think of yarn, the idea of fun never really comes into play, at least from a gaming standpoint anyway. Knitting and sewing together afghans, tablecloths, and potholders was just never really my thing. Leave it to the people over at Nintendo to find a use for it with one of their most beloved mascots, Kirby. From what I’ve played so far, Kirby’s Epic Yarn is a unique, charming, and exciting game that will warm the hearts of gamers of all ages. (more…)

After making one of the easiest decisions ever last week, the motherload of shovelware has returned to frustrate me once again. Seeing another Virtual Console title hit the shop did help ease the pain a little bit, but for the most part, this is a forgettable offering of games that most people won’t even remember a month or so down the road. Despite all of these issues, a choice still has to be made, so let’s get on with it, shall we. Here it is, my pic for Nintendo Download of the Week for October 18th, 2010. (more…)
After spending some more time with Jam, everything that I stated in my previous article still holds true. This review will just cover the rest of the modes that are included in the game, and if they bring anything new and exciting to the overall experience. For those of you who did not take the time to read the last post, I will go over those sections very briefly as well. Well, it’s time for tip-off, so let’s hit the court and get things started. If I don’t pick the obvious game from what’s on offer here, then my history as a gamer will mean absolutely nothing. One of my favorite icons from the 90′s is back and is trying out new territory in the downloadable market. To be completely honest with all of you, the moment that my eyes came across this one, nothing else on offer this week really mattered. So let’s get right to it, here is my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week for October 11th, 2010. (more…)
“ Lara Croft at her BEST!” (A) – Jeffrey d
In recent years, most sports related video games have tried to recreate as realistic of an experience as they possibly can, but more often than not, the end result is not as fun as it could have been. Sometimes, a trip back to the good old days is just what the doctor ordered. Apparently, the people over at EA Sports are aware of this, and they have decided to bring back one of the most beloved arcade sports franchises from the grave by remaking NBA Jam for the Wii. At first, I was skeptical of this decision, because not every revival of a popular title ends up being as successful as the original, but after a little bit of time with Jam, all I have to say is, it’s on fire. The same company that brought you XBLA hits The Maw and Splosion Man are releasing their third XBLA title, Comic Jumper. Twisted Pixel returns to the scene with the newly acquired comic book hero…oops, I meant to say joke of a hero. (more…)

Less than a month between VC releases, this is some scary stuff people. Still, with all of the highly anticipated titles coming out on the Wii this month (i.e. NBA Jam and Kirby’s Epic Yarn), I may not be checking out the Wiiware and DSiWare games all that much. That doesn’t mean that nothing on offer this week isn’t worth checking out, in fact, this may have been one the easiest decisions I have ever made. So here it is, my pic for Nintendo Download of the Week for October 4th, 2010. (more…)
