When I think of the downloadable offerings this time around, only one word comes to mind, boring. With the pending release of the 3DS being just around the corner, it seems like these developers are not even trying anymore. Apparently, services you can call 1-900 numbers for (and no it’s nothing dirty) can qualify themselves as games. There is still a gem in here somewhere, guess we will just have to dig real deep in order to find it. Here it is, my pic for Nintendo Download of the Week for January 31st, 2011.
The only game that even looks like it would be mildly entertaining is All-Star Air Hockey for the DSiWare Service. It has an ESRB rating of E for Everyone, and is currently available for download through the DSi Shop Channel, at the asking price of 200 DSi points. My reason for choosing this one above the rest was because Air Hockey is always fun to play, regardless of where or how it is played. Anybody else who doesn’t go to a party place all the time should definitely give this one a shot.
Those of you who are not into leisurely sports may want to check out some of the other DSiWare titles available for download. Dear diary, notebooks are too expensive, so I decided share my thoughts with myDiary instead. How many portable versions of the popular Chinese game Mahjong can there be?, my guess for now is one more. Find out how intelligent and friendly dolphins are by giving 101 Dolphin Pets a try.
Gamers looking for something to do on the home console will have one new Wiiware title, and two new Wiiware demos to check out. Find out what your future holds, or at least get a general answer about it in Magic Destiny. The walking dead are at it once again, show them, for a limited time of course, who’s boss by playing the Zombie Panic in Wonderland demo. If playing the Racers’ Islands Crazy Racers demo brings out the animal in you, please do not get behind the wheel of a real car.
All of this, and more, can be found in the DSi and Wii Shop Channel right now, have fun!
