Now when I think of yarn, the idea of fun never really comes into play, at least from a gaming standpoint anyway. Knitting and sewing together afghans, tablecloths, and potholders was just never really my thing. Leave it to the people over at Nintendo to find a use for it with one of their most beloved mascots, Kirby. From what I’ve played so far, Kirby’s Epic Yarn is a unique, charming, and exciting game that will warm the hearts of gamers of all ages. (more…)
In recent years, most sports related video games have tried to recreate as realistic of an experience as they possibly can, but more often than not, the end result is not as fun as it could have been. Sometimes, a trip back to the good old days is just what the doctor ordered. Apparently, the people over at EA Sports are aware of this, and they have decided to bring back one of the most beloved arcade sports franchises from the grave by remaking NBA Jam for the Wii. At first, I was skeptical of this decision, because not every revival of a popular title ends up being as successful as the original, but after a little bit of time with Jam, all I have to say is, it’s on fire. After hearing that one of my favorite developers, Wayforward technologies was releasing a new game for the Wii, I became, as they say, very excited. Mighty Flip Champs was such a unique title on the DSiWare service, and while Batman: The Brave and the Bold may just seem like another run of the mill side scroller, its sense of humor, and witty dialogue set it apart from most other beat em ups on the market today. Just finished the first out of four episodes, and wanted to share my initial impressions on this one with all of you. (more…)
Pit, from the NES game Kid Icarus is back, and what better way to make a return to gaming then to be the launch title for the new handheld Nintendo system, the 3DS. In Kid Icarus Uprising, Pit will now be able to fly through the air to dispose of his enemies, keep one thing in mind though, he can only fly for five minutes at a time, so be sure to use it wisely. The game is a platformer mixed with a shooter, so there will be some ground enemies to attend to as well. No official release date, other than the annoying “Coming Soon” has been given for this one as of yet. Enjoy the trailer!
One of the most beloved characters in Disney history, Mickey Mouse has never had a starring role as the hero in a video game, until now. Warren Spector, creator of such games as Deus EX and System Shock, has decided that it was time to explore the darker side of the Disney world, and from what I’ve seen so far, the game looks absolutely incredible. The Steamboat Willie level alone gave me chills, as did the idea that you can use paint and thinner to create and dismantle almost everything in the environment around you. This platforming action adventure game is set to hit shelves this holiday season. Here is the onstage demo from Nintendo’s E3 press conference, Enjoy!
Here is the official trailer from E3 2010 for the new Mario Sports game for Wii entitled Mario Sports Mix. The games shown in this trailer include Hockey, Basketball,Volleyball, and Dodgeball (not sure why there is no football, but oh well). It is set to release next year, Enjoy!
Here is the official trailer from E3 2010 for the new Donkey Kong game for Wii entitled Donkey Kong Country Returns. Retro Studios, the creators of the Metroid Prime series, are sending DK back to his 2D platforming roots. Anyone who is a fan of the original SNES game should not pass this one up. It is set to release during the fall of 2010, Enjoy!
Here is the official trailer from E3 2010 for the new Kirby game for Wii entitled Kirby’s Epic Yarn. This is a 2D platformer that uses an interesting gameplay mechanic. It is set to release during the fall of 2010. Enjoy!
Here is the official trailer from E3 2010 for the new Zelda game for Wii entitled The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It will feature Motionplus support, and is set to release sometime next year. Wish I had more details to give, but I don’t, enjoy!
If you do not know anything about the Bit Trip series for Wiiware, then you just might be missing out on some of the greatest experiences that this service has to offer. Void, Core, and Beat were all revolutionary in their own way, and were just downright fun to play. Now comes along Bit Trip Runner, which is without a doubt the most frustrating, exciting, interesting, and unique game that I have ever played on Wiiware. (more…)
Since Jeff, Mike, and myself have played so many games at Pax East this year, we figured that it’s only fair to give you a first look at some of them. I think the first one that I will talk to you guys about is Military Madness Nectaris. The main reason why this is my first Pax preview is because the game just debuted on Wiiware this week, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with all of you. (more…)
