Review: Mario Galaxy 2
Ok, now this was a long time coming. Anybody out there who knows which type of gamer I am will immediately understand when I say that Mario Galaxy 2 is the best Wii game out there right now. All of the new challenges, powerups, boss fights, and gameplay mechanics have been improved in a big way, along with a few other changes. This is a big leap forward for the platforming genre, and in every way an experience that no one with a heart should pass up. (more…)

Nintendo Download of the Week: 6/28 Edition
The virtual console has been playing tricks on us as of late, but nevertheless it’s nice to see it return with a noteworthy title. Wiiware gets a game that could possibly be the sleeper downloadable hit of the summer, and the DSiWare service is on a rampage with the amount of titles that it is bringing to the table. With so much to choose from this time around, it may be hard to narrow it down to just one. I am required to make a choice, and here it is, my Nintendo Download of the Week for June 28th, 2010. Mario Marathon is On!
Just letting you guys know that the Mario Marathon event is going on right now on Ustream.TV. It will take place all of this weekend, and the more money that these guys raise for the Child’s Play Charity means that they have to complete more games from the Mario series. Everybody who donates will also have a chance to win some cool prizes during the event as well. Who knows, you might even get the chance to see a special dance, no not like that, get your heads out of the gutter.
Head on over to their website and make a donation right now. Just click on the donate now tab underneath the video stream, and then enter the amount you wish to give through paypal. You can also use the chat widget on the right side of the page, and sign in to either twitter or facebook to chat with the team during the event. This is a great thing that these guys are doing, so please show them some love, but in a totally heterosexual way please.
Top 5, or 6 Worst Wii Games
As much as I am a lover of all things Nintendo, there are those rare instances that occur when I actually get the chance to play a horrible game for one of their systems. For those of you out there who own a Wii, you might think that every bad game on the system comes from a third party, and for the most part, you would be right. That doesn’t mean Nintendo is exempt from this, because they have sholved out some crap over the years as well. So just for fun, I thought I would share my opinion about some of the worst games that the Wii has to offer. Whether it was the terrible gimmick, horrible controls, or the aged graphical design, each one of these games was horrible in its own way, let’s get started. (more…)
Preview: Match Fish
IFun4All, the creators of one of the most fun games ever for the IPhone, Crap of Defense, are back with a title that is less about violence, and more about reflexes. Match Fish is a match 3 game in which you have to guide certain colors of fish onto a grid, and arrange them into groups of 3 at a time to earn points. As much as this feels like something that has been done already, I am sucker for these types of games, mainly because I get addicted to them very fast, and I’m sure that this one will be no exception. Nintendo Download of the Week: 6/21 Edition
Now that all of the hooplah has died down from E3 2010, its time to get back to business. It seems like every time the Virtual Console gets a new release one week, it becomes forgotten by the next. To make matters worse, most of the downloads this time around are not going to grab anyones attention in my opinion. The Kinectabilities await us
The other night, my daughter and I watched the GameTrailers.Com worldwide reveal for Kinect on the Xbox 360, as presented by Cirque du Soleil, before a premiere audience that included various Hollywood stars, VIPs and media from all around the world. This program showcased a highlighted version of the June 13thlive performance, that was held this past Sunday and featured live performances from dancers, musicians and acrobats of Cirque du Soleil. E3 2010: GOW: Ghost of Sparta Trailer
The only game that I actually finished in the series, God of War: Chains of Olympus, is finally getting a sequel. While the hack and slash gameplay might be old news to some gamers out there, there is no denying that these games are alot of fun to play. Ghost of Sparta is set to release in the fall of 2010. E3 2010: Kid Icarus Uprising Trailer
Pit, from the NES game Kid Icarus is back, and what better way to make a return to gaming then to be the launch title for the new handheld Nintendo system, the 3DS. In Kid Icarus Uprising, Pit will now be able to fly through the air to dispose of his enemies, keep one thing in mind though, he can only fly for five minutes at a time, so be sure to use it wisely.The game is a platformer mixed with a shooter, so there will be some ground enemies to attend to as well. No official release date, other than the annoying “Coming Soon” has been given for this one as of yet. Enjoy the trailer!
E3 2010: Epic Mickey Gameplay
One of the most beloved characters in Disney history, Mickey Mouse has never had a starring role as the hero in a video game, until now. Warren Spector, creator of such games as Deus EX and System Shock, has decided that it was time to explore the darker side of the Disney world, and from what I’ve seen so far, the game looks absolutely incredible. The Steamboat Willie level alone gave me chills, as did the idea that you can use paint and thinner to create and dismantle almost everything in the environment around you. E3 2010: Dance Central Gameplay
The other Kinect title that peaked my interest was a new music and rhythm game from Harmonix and MTV games entitled Dance Central. Basically, you dance inside of a circle, and perform specific moves when you are prompted to do so, and you earn points for it. This could be a casual hit at parties because who doesn’t like to watch their friends make fools out of themselves, I know I do. Check out the onstage demo from Microsoft’s E3 press conference, and see if you want to get down with your bad self (its a lame joke, I know).
E3 2010: Your Shape FE Gameplay
The first party titles for Kinect at this year’s E3 didn’t impress me all that much, but there were a couple of third party titles that really caught my attention. One of them is called Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, the sequel to last year’s Wii game Your Shape, made by Ubisoft. This time around, the Kinect’s camera follows your every movement, and will have you participate in a number of exercises according to your specific body structure.
