I had the opportunity to go home for the 4th of July with my family and was reminded how ignorant some folks can be. Living in the city you will not hear a parent complaining about how a video game has corrupted their child, but that they have to buy the game due the child not being of the chosen age for a particular game. During an outing to pick up a copy of Crackdown 2 with my husband, I had the pleasure of standing in line behind what would have to be one of those parents that would blame her child’s illegal behavior on a game. I’m all for games that take chances with their design and gameplay ideas, but sometimes there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the tried and true, and Jett Rocket does just that. Shin’en offers something that Wiiware has been lacking for quite some time, which is a true 3D platformer that is as beautiful to look at as it is fun to play. Seasoned gamers may be turned off by how short lived this experience is, but for those people who choose to go along for the ride, they will not be disappointed. So fuel up that jetpack, and get ready to collect those solar panels, because it’s time to save the world. (more…)
I spent a week with one of Japan’s cutest anime series. My thoughts and opinions after the break. (more…)
That’s right everybody, I’m back!! After a few month hiatus because of school, I’m finally back full time. After four and a half long years and two universities later, I have finally graduated again. But enough about me, I just want to let you all know that I’ll be back supporting the other writers with fresh content, new views on news that is coming out, and anything that I feel you may need to know. Throughout the week I’ll be sharing what games I’ve been playing, my thoughts on them, and anything else that I want to share that is gaming related.
Throughout the week I’ll be writing about games like Angry Birds, TweetDefense, Trees of Doom, Crap of Defense, Silent Swords, and Future Fight for the iPhone. I’ll also do write ups for Split Second, Alan Wake, Alpha Protocol, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 to name a few of the Xbox 360 and PS3 games that have helped keep my sanity during my school.

Welcome back everybody, hope you enjoyed your Fourth of July weekend, now it’s time to get down to some business. Somehow Nintendo thinks that by releasing 8 titles on both of their services, it will make up for their every other week release of Virtual console titles, and it doesn’t. There are just some games that are on offer here that made me go really, this is all we get. Either way, let’s get on with it, here is my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week for July 5th, 2010. It’s been awhile since I’ve played anything for the DS, and even longer for the DSiWare service. Then just the other day, something on there caught my eye. It was a game that mixed the elements of a rhythm based music experience with that of a traditional platformer. Throw a little bit of classical music into the mix, and you got one of the most unique downloadable titles that this system has to offer. Maestro! Green Groove is an interesting experiment that ends up being a unique type of game that gamers from all walks of life can play. (more…)
Ok, now this was a long time coming. Anybody out there who knows which type of gamer I am will immediately understand when I say that Mario Galaxy 2 is the best Wii game out there right now. All of the new challenges, powerups, boss fights, and gameplay mechanics have been improved in a big way, along with a few other changes. This is a big leap forward for the platforming genre, and in every way an experience that no one with a heart should pass up. (more…)
To enjoy: lower standards

The virtual console has been playing tricks on us as of late, but nevertheless it’s nice to see it return with a noteworthy title. Wiiware gets a game that could possibly be the sleeper downloadable hit of the summer, and the DSiWare service is on a rampage with the amount of titles that it is bringing to the table. With so much to choose from this time around, it may be hard to narrow it down to just one. I am required to make a choice, and here it is, my Nintendo Download of the Week for June 28th, 2010. Just letting you guys know that the Mario Marathon event is going on right now on Ustream.TV. It will take place all of this weekend, and the more money that these guys raise for the Child’s Play Charity means that they have to complete more games from the Mario series. Everybody who donates will also have a chance to win some cool prizes during the event as well. Who knows, you might even get the chance to see a special dance, no not like that, get your heads out of the gutter.
Head on over to their website and make a donation right now. Just click on the donate now tab underneath the video stream, and then enter the amount you wish to give through paypal. You can also use the chat widget on the right side of the page, and sign in to either twitter or facebook to chat with the team during the event. This is a great thing that these guys are doing, so please show them some love, but in a totally heterosexual way please.
As much as I am a lover of all things Nintendo, there are those rare instances that occur when I actually get the chance to play a horrible game for one of their systems. For those of you out there who own a Wii, you might think that every bad game on the system comes from a third party, and for the most part, you would be right. That doesn’t mean Nintendo is exempt from this, because they have sholved out some crap over the years as well. So just for fun, I thought I would share my opinion about some of the worst games that the Wii has to offer. Whether it was the terrible gimmick, horrible controls, or the aged graphical design, each one of these games was horrible in its own way, let’s get started. (more…)
IFun4All, the creators of one of the most fun games ever for the IPhone, Crap of Defense, are back with a title that is less about violence, and more about reflexes. Match Fish is a match 3 game in which you have to guide certain colors of fish onto a grid, and arrange them into groups of 3 at a time to earn points. As much as this feels like something that has been done already, I am sucker for these types of games, mainly because I get addicted to them very fast, and I’m sure that this one will be no exception.
